Beach Tennis merges the sports of tennis and beach volleyball into one action packed sport that originated on the beaches of Ravenna, Italy, over 35 years ago. It is played with high tech carbon fiber paddles and a depressurized tennis ball on a regulation beach volleyball court with a net that is 5’7” high.
Sheraton Sand Key Resort’s Activities Director Steve Culver (aka Coach
Rhino) is a USPTA Tennis Professional. Introduced to the sport of Beach Tennis in 2003 by two aspiring Beach Tennis touring pros whose goal was to be trained in the new sport to achieve a National Ranking in the United States.
